Membership
Membership is important at Richmond Baptist. It’s covenanting together to live out the vision and mission of our church.
Membership is open to all who unreservedly affirm our statement of Beliefs; support the church’s vision and mission; and are willing to be committed in fellowship with the other members, and commit to the Members' Commitment. Members shall be followers of Jesus Christ who have been baptised by full immersion. Members 16 years and older are able to vote.
A believer who desires to be baptised, but is prevented by disability or other special reason acceptable to the Elders may apply for membership on the same basis as baptised believers.
People wanting to become members should in the first instance apply to a Pastor or Elder who will explain the Members’ Commitment. All applications for membership will be considered by the Elders, who will respond to the person in confidence. New members will be welcomed publicly into membership as soon as possible.
The members' roll shall be reviewed annually by the eldership. Any member who has ceased to fulfil the spirit of the Members' Commitment shall be contacted where possible, and given the opportunity to recommit. If they are unwilling or unable to recommit to the Members' Commitment their removal from the roll will be considered.
Members’ Commitment
Having requested and been admitted into membership of Richmond Baptist Church I hereby commit:
That I unreservedly support the Vision Statement of Richmond Baptist Church and with God’s help will bring the precepts into my church and everyday life.
I will at all times endeavour to live my Christian life in a way that pleases God and reflects the commands of Jesus.
I will actively involve myself as far as I am able to, in the life, activities and work of the church, by regularly attending services and offering my gifts and talents to encourage, build up and serve the church in the areas of ministry that I am called into.
I will commit to praying for the church, for the ministries, the people, and the leaders so that every part of our vision powerfully impacts both our church family and the community.
As best as I am able, I will share my resources with those who have needs and will regularly contribute to the church missions and funds.
I will do everything I am capable of, to encourage and build loving, positive, Christ centred relationships within our church family.
I will to the best of my ability, nurture trusting relationships with my unsaved friends to reflect the life, compassion and power of Jesus so that they will turn and follow Him.
